Building upon years of City and community advocacy, the Louisville Downtown & NuLu Walkability Plan, completed with Stantec Urban Places, redesigns Louisville’s Downtown and NuLu streets from curb-to-curb to be safer for all users. The Plan takes a broad approach to creating a more walkable—and livable—Downtown and NuLu through low-cost, quick-build interventions that will have the largest measurable impact on the number of people walking and biking, with minimal investment. Key modifications include restoring nearly all one-way streets to two-way travel, replacing excess lanes with new on-street parking, vastly enlarging the bicycle network, and converting signalized intersections to all-way stops. Because most changes can be accomplished with paint rather than reconstruction, the project can be completed quickly and affordably.
